My child missed the gifted testing by one week and there is no test till next year what should I do? I can't wait until 3rd grade to give him the education he needs. Also he is now doing the same work I saw in Kindergarten. His Math level is at about 3rd grade and he has scored no lower than a 94 on reading comphrension exams. (I also have a letter of recommendation for enrichment from his previous teacher)This school doesn't even give regular spelling or comphrehension exams. When i called district 31 they said there are no enrichment programs available then hung up on me, welcome to NY. Is there anything out there ? Principal even told me a psychiatrists evaluation and testing would not help get him into the IGC program that is available at the school he attends. He said that he can help the other students, maybe get seperated into groups. My son used to take 2-3 tests every friday, now Friday is fun day, where they play games and do very little work, ready to scream.
