We just celebrated our Muslim Holiday called" EID -al- Adha". It marks the Celebration of pilgrimage to The Moslem Holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, were millions of people from all countries, cultures, color gather to surrender their desires and ask for forgivness to the Almight God. One of the main themes of this Holiday is - to sacrifice something for the will of God, to give away something that you love, for the happiness of others.

On this day the children recieve some money as a gift from their parents and other Family members. The adults also exchange some money as gifts, which is called "eidy". This time, we decided that the family as a whole will go to a Walmart store and each one of us will spent about thirty percent of our "eidy " to buy something that we really like. Save about forty percent of the total and contribute the remaining thirty percent of the money for buying holiday presents for the children living in the "Children's House" - a group home for the children with special needs. So my nine year old did the math to see how much each has to give and checked on the website- the wish list for the group home kids. My 4 year old put the presents in the Gift bags and all of us headed to the group home. The kids handed the beautifully packed presents to the Office staff. All of us felt the emmence pleasure of" Giving to others a little of ours".

At Bedtime when I asked my nine year old daughter as to what was the best moment of the day . She replied " The best moment of my day was to deliver the gifts to the Children's House".

Najmun
