our daughter is looking into the same thing.
she would like a community based school that has top rankings. And also a respectable apartment complex nearby.
Which schools are you considering? There are 57 elementary schools or something like that. I'll be happy to give an opinion on some of them but there are others I haven't even heard of. :-)
We are new to Virginia in January and my son attends Kempsville Elementary. This is the third elementary school he has attended (prior military). We have absolutely loved everything about the school. We are now looking to buy our first home in the area and I am terrified about the good chance we may have to leave Kempsville schools due to availablity of and prices of houses in this area. Not only because I feel horrible moving him again (though this will probably be the last time), but I feel very attached to Kempsville schools. Not knowing anybody in the area doesn't help because I have nobody to tell me that other schools are just as good or which to avoid. I have heard bad things about Salem High School, but that is about it. Any input be we helpful.
This is not a great question, because Virginia Beach only has one school district. I think it is superior to any of the surrounding cities including Chesapeake and Norfolk.
