Sadly, there are not a lot of options. We crossed several day care/preschools off the list because of location (safety is a big concern); then we looked at what they offered.
We were looking for a full-day, academic-based curriculum. What we really wanted was a program that was "sneakily-challenging"! Meaning: I want my kids to learn without being aware that they're "being taught". We found only a few of those, and at least one or two didn't provide snacks/lunches, so those were eliminated.
We finally found the one we're currently enrolled in, and we've been very happy - although we've continually pushed the administration for better curriculum and better teachers. Now we're fighting for better compensation for our teachers - now that we have them, we don't what them to leave!
