My first child has attended two public school systems in this area--Smyth and Washington Co. VA. We are all so much happier at Sullins Academy. The academic program is outstanding, plus the mutual respect that teachers have for my children and that the children mirror back to teachers, peers and parents is refreshing. These students are not only well educated and well behaved, they hold the door and say "please" and "thank you." There is a tremendous difference in the overall culture of public school v. private. It's not cool to act out at Sullins as it apparently was in the public schools. We will spend about $20,000 in private school this year and consider it well worth it.
I have debated public vs private school for my daughter. I ended up sending her to a public school for kindergarden and am again considering swithcing to a private school for next year. How do the public and private compare, particularly High Point vs Sullins Academy?
