I've had two High school aged girls. One went to Brighton; the other to Hillcrest. They both received academic scholarships to college. School wise, I liked each for different reasons. I disliked each for other reasons.
Hillcrest seemed to have a less competitive environment giving a sharp kid more opportunities. Most of the teachers were good with an outstanding choir teacher. There were a couple of really bad teachers though. It was a fun experience for my student to be exposed to the wide variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds.
Brighton had a superior AP program and more truly outstanding teachers. I don't think there was a bad teacher in all 3 years. However, a lot of strong arming by wealthy parents, sways programs into favor of the students of more wealthy parents. Not really a fair playground in getting your student selected for teams and honors based solely on merit. Also, be prepared to fork out the bucks on clothing, only the best, if you want your child to fit in.
