There are many good public schools in the San Antonio area. You'll have to narrow down your interests to determine which district and the school within it will be optimal. Keep in mind there are pockets within the 3 best districts in town that comprise the best schools. Several districts are facing redistricting issues within themselves in order to meet growing populational needs...this will affect which school a child will go to now and which they would be eligible to attend in the future...so keep this in mind.

Many private schools in town are on the same level as public schools...usually they are more specialized, offer less diversification, but more supervision.

We also have many charter schools in town which can range from not-great to just as good as any other school in town. Charter schools are amongst the most highly specialized of the three with schools concentrating on learning disabilities, behaviors, science and technology, arts and more. Charter schools here are often more difficult to ascertain their true impact though.
