what is a great elementary school in mesquite? we are new to the district and haven't seen it yet. my child attended public school in another district the last two years. the class ratio was 1 to 12 with a teacher's assistant. the teacher taught with patience , kindness, tolerance and love. children build self esteem and self confidence. they are taught to be free thinkers and accept diversity, and to be proud of who they are. my child looked forward to going to school every day. that is what a great school is ! my child has attended mesquite k for 10 days. he has been chastised in front of the class for his behavior three times in the ten days,(that we know about), his daily happy face was crossed out two times for all to see and we have recieved lengthy negetive comments from the teacher. our child had no behavior problems for two years before. his mesquite isd teacher complains that she has 17 students and not time to individualize with each one. during open house we heard several other teachers complaining they were overwhelmed with too many students as well. today, our child told us he wished he didn't have to go back to his new school. that is so sad. a child should love going to school and see each day as a wonderful learning experience. going to school is something he will have to do for many, many years. we are hoping things get better. teacher and student are going through a period of adjustment. hopefully we will see a change for the better in this first 6 weeks. we will not send our child to a school he dreads daily. we are looking for options.
