I feel that it is very unfair to judge those issues related to drugs and crime as being a katrina related problem, not true there are drugs and crime everywhere, mesquite is not immune from it nor did it happen when that catastrophe of an disaster happened .
my family bought a house there and low and behold i lived right behide the police station i never would have imagined so much crime neighbors houses getting broken into people getting robbed at the grocery store and dpt stores on galloway ave to be exact come to find out it was some young students from poteet high school and some other mequite high school doing the crime and they weren't katrina related victims it was before that incident, anyway the neighborhood has gone way down and we moved to a nicer neighborhood and nicer homes in dallas borderline mesquite, so don't blame those victims for the crime that's just apart of the hood baby.
Well, I have to say that we loved Mesquite until Katrina happened. I have a 20 year old that went to Horn all four years and loved it until her Sr year and the school had started going down hill. This past year my now 10th grade daughter couldn’t handle all of the bulling and drugs at Horn and decided to move in with a relative to get away from the school.
I have a 7th grader at Terry and she loves it. We haven’t had any issues there. I also have a 2nd grader at Thompson and it seems to be a really good school, but she needs extra assistance due to ADD and they don’t really offer it.
We are trying to move out of Mesquite because of the high school issues and the lack of LD assistance. We just haven’t found anything better yet.
