bacosta: Could you elaborate a bit more so that parents might know better how to supplement their child's education in Public School? I would be interested to hear more of your thoughts. Thanks!

One thing that must be compared is the cost. The question is moot if one cannot afford private. I have to trust that my children are being taught the basics and anymore than that is a bonus in P.S. It is up to me to give them more advantages by also teaching at home or looking for extra curricular experiences. I have children at Cielo Vista Elementary and MacArthur Intermediate-Middle School and both of these schools seem to be interested in the individual child's success.

I'm seeking the same information regarding middle schools - have you had any useful feedback that you can share? Thank you.

As a teacher at a public school (with prior experience at teaching in a private school) the main difference is the TAKS test. In some cases, such as mine, there is a dispairity between the level of curriculum as well.
