typed a reply yesterday but I must not have posted it to the thread.

Anyway I said that many in Nashville flee a school system that is becoming less white (account for under 40% of the student population) and more poor (70% qualify for Federal subsidized lunch program). Metro has several elementary and middle schools that are good to excellent but the High Schools are not making the grade. Many try for the lottery to access the magnet schools and if they do not get selected they pay for private schools or move to a ring county where the public schools perform better.

it depends on the area-there are many great public schools, but also some that struggle. many parents choose to send their children to private school in the nashville area, but i feel that they do not give the public schools a fair chance. i taught at jt moore middle in nashville and believe the children there received an excellent education!
