I believe the most dominant factor of a great school are the people in involved; administration, parents and students. The best schools are not always the "philosophy" or "test results" but an atmosphere created by many caring adults-from the leadership all the way down to the custodial staff. A student needs to feel important, safe and challenged in order to flourish and grow into a magnificent person. There is nothing more important than walking into a school "IN PERSON" and meeting people and experiencing the place. I encourage you to interview the principal, a teacher on staff and a parent.
I couldn't say one elementary school over another, but I can say that the public school Montessori program in Laurens 55 is an excellent alternative to the regular program. The program is offered in all the elementary schools, and is expanding to both middle schools.
