We love Richland Academy, a Montessori Daycare, Preschool and Kindergarten. The staff is personable, dedicated and experienced and the curriculum adheres to Montessori principles. Rooms are bright, clean and cheerful, with plants, pets and superb materials. The playground is the largest I have seen for a Johnstown preschool and has lots of nice toys. Outdoor play is mostly in the morning, so if you join the 3-Day afternoon program you are largely out of luck. High parent involvement requested but not required, great field trips.
My oldest went to Head Start and I was thrilled with his progress. At the time, he was an only child, only grandchild and the only young child in the neighborhood so we wanted him to go mostly for the interaction with other kids. He went in knowing his abc's and how to count pretty high, he came out reading and writing very well and with a great attitude.
