Cedar Mill Elementary School
Has the most wonderful teachers and sometimes your child has the same teacher for several years. The principal is the best and they help your child to be the best they can be with no bullying and all child are equal.
I think Tucker Maxon School is a GREAT elementary school. Both my husband and I are educators, and were very picky about our selection of schools.
Tucker Maxon has been around for 61 years, but was originally an oral school for deaf/hard of hearing children. Over the last 10 years it has morphed into an amazing model for oral and accelerated education for both hearing and non-hearing kids.
The classrooms are small, and there are a number of teachers with Masters' degrees. Many classrooms have assistants, keeping the staff to kid ratio at about 1:10. There is a full PE program (AMAZING), before and after school care, after school sports, accelerated math, afterschool music, integrated art curriculum, on-staff audiologists...I could go on and on.
The "feel" is very warm and relaxed. Teachers go by first name and students treat each other like family. When someone has a party, everyone is invited. There is little drama, even in the higher grades.
Tucker Maxon does not have a lunch program; everyone brings their own. The tuition is extremely reasonable, and there are scholarships available to deaf, hearing impaired or special needs kiddos.
