Technically, there aren't many "private" elementary schools in Westerville. St. Paul School tends to be listed as "private", but it's a Catholic school, and should be considered parochial instead. St. Paul is good for religious ed if you're Catholic and "norm" - but if your child is advanced/gifted or special needs in any way, St. Paul would not be a good fit. Columbus Academy is close to Westerville, costs a pretty penny, and seems to have a good reputation, though on a gifted-ed parents site a few years ago, a parent complained that, after having CA recommended to her for her gifted son, he told her he was "now in an expensive school with normal kids". St. Charles is a Catholic prep high school and has a reputation for being academically demanding; Wellington and CSG are also private options and have good reputations, but are a haul from Westerville. DeSales is also a Catholic high school option, but their courses and achievements seem to compare well to Westerville Public Schools. Public schools in Westerville seem to vary in quality - some are better than others. If you investigate on the GoodSchools site, the ratings and rankings, and even on the Westerville City Schools site, they show how the schools "rank" in the state with the state school report cards, you can get a good feel for which schools are "better". I've been incredibly happy with our sons' middle school (Blendon).
