Galway has one preschool...sometimes more. For me, choosing was about evaluating preschools in surrounding areas. We attended West Glenville Christian Preschool for a Year....about 15 min. south of Galway. Solid program. Offers a 3 and 4 yo curriculum. My daughter needed a level between preschool and Kindergarten (Feb birthday)...so we turned to Ballston Spa. Many choices---we wanted a program with certified teachers, regular evaluations, an academic curriculum using a combination of instructional play and guided instruction...including early literacy, math and science. A Catholic or Christian school was not a requirement...but was a nice element the year prior. Excellent, safe facilities with many instructional tools was necessary. St. Mary's in Ballston Spa won us over on the first visit. Incredible program and facilities. Full-Day pre-k has "specials" in addition to base curriculum, including technology, music, gym and library...and they have a dress code which I personally am an advocate for. 1/2 day pre-k is also available, with specials. Now that we're there, we'll be staying...I have no doubt that this is the best place for my children to receive an Elementary education. The School District provides transporation from Galway... you have to check it out to fully understand how wonderful the school is!
