The Olmsted school, on Amherst st in Buffalo, has both a bilingual and gifted & talented program. It is also the feeder school for City Honors. City Honors is in the top ten public schools in all the U.S. according to NewsWeek. Plus the Olmsted school is near the zoo, Delaware Park, The Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Burchfield Penny Art gallery, Elmwood Ave cafes, etc. So, the students has access to culture, nature, and a solid intellectual lifestyle. Many people that I have met that have gone to Olmsted and then onto City Honors (or private high school ) come out happy, community oriented, have gone onto college, many have gone to graduate school, and have become teachers, doctors, business owners, etc. Usually Olmsted and City Honors are the public version of top private schools in the area.
City Honors has a great reputation. My son is only 6 and goes to Charter School for Applied Technology, but I will test him in for CH in 4th grade.
