My children attend PS 133. It's a very nice school. The principal or vice principal are outside to greet the children every morning. The parents are very involved with the school. I wish there were more extra ciricular activities but I'm sure that's a problem in most schools.

As our local-zoned primary school, we considered PS133. One item in particular turned us away: No after school program. We were not interested in our kindergartener being bused to the Y. Also, we heard more negative than positive comments about the principal.

There also appears to be a limited amount of music and art available in the school. All this while parents at the Mayflower school rave about their childrens' experiences. Same with Castlewood and Glen Oaks. Makes me wonder how well 133 would fare if it were over the border in LI. And in a neighborhood of 1 family homes valued $450 to $600k, 50% get lunch for free? IG anyone???

Within the shadow of the school, 8 children are picked up by bus and taken to PS266 every day. Only 2 take advantage of the after-school program. What does that tell you?

Our child is one of those waiting for the bus in the a.m. So far, so good. But is it twice as good as 133? (a play on the school numbers). We'll see...
