During the end of the 2008-9 school year, I called the main number at Carl Sandburg Middle School in Old Bridge, to inform them of the possibility of my daughter attending CSMS in the Fall. We were welcomed with open arms. It was then that I was informed of an upcoming orientation. Since I was unable to attend this orientation date, I asked if there was an alternate date. Since there was not, I was directed to the principal's office for a tour of the school and orientation documents. I made an appointment after the school day ended to bring my daughter in to see if it was a good decision educationally and socially (safety was a priority) to make a switch from a Private school to a Public school system. In addition to an informative tour that was not rushed, all of my "many" questions were answered. Quite frankly, we were impressed with the school tour, its education policies, its safety policies, its segregation of 6th Graders from the upper class students, its advanced science labs. Additionally, we were quite pleased with the list of activities and flexible bus schedules the school had to offer my soon to be 6th Grader. Shortly thereafter, I contacted Guidance to arrange for a visit and to enroll my daughter. For this appointment, I will need to provide a copy of birth certificate, Immunization record, report card and an original transfer document from my daughter's previous school. I do wonder if each enrollment situation may be different when it comes to enrollment, depending upon the time of the year and the circumstances. So, if you can plan ahead and not wait until the last minute - before school opens in the Fall, I think you and your child will be able to ease into the enrollment process. For us, it has been a complete pleasure so far and we look forward to finalizing enrollment.
