At Bayview, when I went to pick up a neighbor's child for a party.
From what other parents tell me, things have improved greatly since.
At the time, it just wasn't the place for my child.
I wasn't happy about paying tuition on top of our incredible taxes, but I felt she would received a better education in a smaller, more controlled environment.
Another perk: Catholic school teachers as rule, do not go on strike.
My daughter went to private school.
I decided not to send her to the public school after seeing the behavior of the kids in the school yard after dismissal one afternoon(the parents and teachers didn't seem to notice or chose not to)!
I also wasn't crazy about the clothes the kids wore; pants around the hips with the underwear showing and belly tops. The language I heard was pretty rough too, especially around the younger kids.
My child is now in high school, so this was many years ago. It appears that things have gotten better there and it sounds like your kids are doing really well!
Hi, I decided to go to Bayview. I went in to visit and the principal was so welcoming. He took me to see a 1st grade class. They also have smaller class sizes in k-2, which is great. My son is presently in St.Marys, which is good but I think public will be better. I am also a 1st grade teacher and I feel their curriculum and overall programs are better. This was a hard choice for me since I attended Catholic school from k-12 but I think I made the right choice. Does your child go to public or private?
I am just reading this now and faced the same decision in 2000.
What school did you choose to send your child?
Would love to know your decision and if you're happy with the school.
I'm not sure. My son is currently in St. Mary's for Kindergarten and we are zoned for Bayview. I have a few friends that say Bayview is better. I kind of leaning towards public bc I feel that the school he's in now doesn't go that extra mile and the classes are huge so maybe public would have smaller classes and more experienced teachers. Does anyone have any suggestions???
