Grandview has not made very good improvements over the years in communicating how to get your kids enrolled in school. I have lived in Grandview since my daughter was 17 months old. I receive the district's quarterly report, and always have. Yet, when it was time for her to start kindergarten, I had no idea where to begin (she is in 8th grade now). I called the district office and they told me to go to Meadowmere - I didn't even know where that was - I had to get the address - great school but it is literally in the middle of a neighborhood. I found the school - of course - I didn't have all the paperwork I needed according to central office and had to go back home and retrieve more. I have enrolled my other two kids since then and the only communication I get is from my home school.
So . . . if you are new to Grandview, and have web access go to www.csd4.k12.mo.us and follow the parents link to find the information you need. It will not be in the quarterly newsletter the district sends out to all residents. For those who don't have a computer (who obviously aren't reading this) they have to figure it out on their own unless they are lucky enough to have good neighbors who can advise them on what to do.
I am now on a committee to help increase parental involvement in the district and I am trying to stress the importance of better communications.
