My child's first day of Kindergarten is tomorrow, and I am nervous and excited for him. Nervous because its his first step and excited because its Hillcrest.
Hillcrest seems to be an amazing elementary school. I believe Hillcrest will give my child a sound base to build his foundation on. I liked the curriculum and approach to teaching. Hillcrest has a community approach. Their moto is respect and consideration. Their math and reading scores are very good. In particular I would like to mention their Boule' groups. It focuses on "...building self-esteem and fosters community service and care for the environment. Boule’s support the expectation that students and adults will act with Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Citizenship, Honesty and Teamwork." (www.bloomington.k12.mn.us/indschool/hc/documents/HCprof08final.pdf)
Which in my opinion are all great factors that make a person whole and ready for the professional and personal life.I am aware that other public schools have also taken this example and introduced it into their schools, which is wonderful.
I hope this has been informative.
