I work at a tuition free public charter school in Lansing. It is a school of choice, so people drive from all over to go there. Charlotte, East Lansing, Holt, Eaton Rapids, Wacousta, Grand Ledge, etc. At our school, we have an Open Enrollment period beginning in October through February for the NEXT fall. You have to apply early because there is always a waiting list. Parents are welcome to apply the summer before, but there is less of a chance of getting your child in. You can apply easily online at www.windemereparkcharteracademy.org and there are open houses every month with refreshments and tours of the school. January 22 from 10-2 is the next one. Then February 19 from 10-2pm. Or you can call the school at 517-327-0700. The application asks basic info to hold your spot on the waiting list, or for the lottery in March for the next fall. You are not bound to the school by applying if you find it is not for you. I think you would be impressed with what you see on a tour... Check us out! We out test all of the area schools on 96% of the MEAP, and us parents are happy as well. Moral Focus is integrated into each day in the classroom and monthly assemblies. It is a very patriotic school. My children love it there! Most of our highly qualified teachers have their master's degree.
