My daughter has several friends who attend Pike, and they love it there. Based on what I have heard from their parents, the educational opportunities there are phenomenal. If you can afford Pike for your child, I would recommend you send him there.
That having been said, Sanborn is a wonderful school, too. I wish that we had lived in that neighborhood so our daughter could have gone there. Even in a tough economy, I believe the Andover Public Schools are doing all they can to ensure a wonderful educational environment for our children, and succeed very well. Sanborn has the added advantage of being one of the smaller elementary schools in Andover, which many people appreciate and benefit from.
I believe that the private schools in Andover, Pike (Grades 1 - 9) and Phillips Academy (Grades 9 - 12) are top notch and if you can afford to send your child(ren) there, they will receive a superior education. The public schools in Andover are very good, too, and I believe my daughter is being well educated and will be prepared for college. So far, she has attended Shawsheen School, West Elementary, and is currently at Wood Hill Middle School. She is very happy there, and we are extremely happy with the teachers, activities, educational opportunities (expeditionary learning), and the administration.
