As a parent that has had four boys go through Baltimore Public Schools, I do not have a whole lot of positive things to say. Boys tend to be immature and most of the public schools are not boy friendly. There are several all boy private schools but they are elitist and most boys will not be accepted unless they are A students. Some of the chartered schools seem promising. Either my boys were bullied or ignored in the High Schools. The High Schools do not have that mentality of the parents being the customer. They say they want volunteers but on many occassions, they would be offended if I suggested something. One time they did not know where to put me. Kipp Academy, The Blueford Jamison School, and Midtown Academy are a few of the good public chartered schools. We need an all boys public chartered high school!

Public education in High School was not meeting the needs of my son. My son was covered by an IEP. He was ADD and gifted. However, through the IEP process, and FAPE - private education was identified and implemented. It has been a very positive experience.
