Here in Mechanic Falls High School is in Poland.. not sure on private Schools however I can do city of Lewiston High vs Poland High.. Lewiston gives out quarter grades a b c d f so you know when to get your head to the books to make up lost work..Poland High goes half yr. so you need to do all your work they get you ready for college right from 9th grade not that Lewiston is not helping students to thrive for college please don't get me wrong on that.. When my children went to Lewiston they said they hated it because if a child did not want to do the work they were not forced to.. I know from 1st hand that when one of my children were in danger of failing, I would not be told about it until the grades were a week from closing.. Here in Mechanic Falls you have the teacher calling you about your child when the work is not passed in on time ect.
My children have told me that they would rather go to Lewiston where they are not pushed into doing projects that get them ready for college.. Poland does just that they work hard to push the children for the roads ahead..
As far as Poland's grading system if a child does not hand in one project they get an I for the grade but they get the chance to make it up as well as test.
They have grades O= outstanding, I= incomplete, (been a while forgive me I do not remember the other 2 grades sorry) right from grade 9 they start doing college preps I love the system..
I forgot to add Poland High School has round table everyday..Round table is where your class sits to talk about the school, get to know each other as students, get to know the teachers..I see by doing this they have very few in crowds that hang together..
If the teachers find some who are out to try and be mean,They take the group have a sit down and work things out the best they can..
