There are a few good schools, both public and private in Shreveport. They really must be looked at individually. My kids attended the only independent school here: Southfield School for 11 years and I wouldn't send my kids anywhere else, EVEN for free. Public schools, in Shreveport, no matter how good they claim to be, base most of their quality on state test scores. The magnet schools talk a lot about their success, but beware and ask the right questions. If the child has to test at a high level just to get in, then it doesn't mean all that much that he/she continues to test at a high level while at the school. Every child is different. Find the school that best meets your child's needs and your expectations for the environment you want for your child.
