Parent Answers to "What's a great elementary school in Shawnee Mission? What makes it great?"

Trailwood Elementary.
This elementary school feeds into Shawnee Mission South and is a great choice. First, the school is in an excellent area. I would not have any concern with my 5th or 6th grade student walking home from school. Second, parents and teachers genuinley care about your child. It would not be out of the ordinary for a teacher to call home to check on a sick student or to invite a group of students over for dinner. This creates an atmosphere of respect and care that I have not seen in any other school. Finally, the school offers programs that encourage students to get involved at a very young age. From little league baseball to after school reading programs, this school is the best around.
