I'm happy you asked! Our family loves New Creations Preschool in Elgin. It's located within Epworth Methodist Church on Randall Rd and Highland. Check out their website (just click on the New Creations Preschool Tab at the top) www.epworthumcelgin.org My daughter attended the last 2 years and my son is starting this fall. Days consists of group time, calendar time, letter of the week, snack time, they write in journals, they play outside when they can and when inside kids can choose from carefully planned activity areas to experience Science, Art, Dramatic Play ect. The Teachers are experienced and keep me up to date and involved whenever possible. I love the Weekly Newsletters Teacher Penny sends home! My daughter learned letter sounds and rhyming words this year among other things. They are also very affordable which is just a bonus!
Fox River Country Day school seems to have the early childhood thing down. The children are all working at levels that meet the needs of the individual. Children who are excited about a unit on space can continue on with specialized interest centers to and get immersed in space with books and activities galore. If a 3 year old is ready to read, they work with the child. If they're just learning simple sounds, they stretch the child at the level that's right for them. The learning is totally child-centered and playful. They have swimming, music, and environmental education on the most beautiful campus I've ever seen. I wouldn't have my child anywhere else and I wasn't asked to write this!
