My son will be attending the 9th grade tomarrow, Sept 1 09. I am sad to say the least, for many reasons, My little boy isnt so little any more, I live in a district with a failing high school, it has a really bad reputation, and is racially unbalanced. I am forced to send my son there, we have no school choice. Why is it that we can choose our doctors, our restaurants, what car we drive, but when it comes to our kids, we have no choices? I could sell my house and move out of the city, but why should I have to do that, I could work 2 jobs and send him to private school, but even then, I couldnt afford it. This is such an important time in his life, and I feel like a failure as a parent, because my hands are tied, I just put on a smile, and try to pretend that its not that bad, and it will be okay, but, I have serious doubts.
