I moved to Savannah in 2000 from Boston. We found out about Savannah Youth University when buying our first home here. We had to go on a waiting list (for daycare) for 6mths but eventually we got a place there when my son just turned 3. He went through their preschool class before going to Kindergarten at St Frances Cabrini Catholic School. He rec'd an excellent start in that Pre K program. Since then my second son went through Pre K at SYU and my third son will attend Pre K at SYU starting August 2009 before going on to St Frances Cabrini. My sons had the same Pre K teacher and that continuity was wonderful for me also. All my children attend their daycare/ camp program year round at SYU (they provide bus service from St Francis for my two older boys). They have an excellent staff with many of them working there over 10 years. I would recommend SYU / Camp Pacer to any parent.
my son attended abc preschool for free under the pre-k program here in Georgia, I was very happy with his teacher,/teachers, however the location nearest to us, was not racially balanced. which didnt affect his learning, but seemed really not as diverse as I would have liked.
We were referred to the Wilmington Island Presbyterian Preschool (WIPP) by friends and neighbors. It was a GREAT choice. The enroll children ages 2-4 with a variety of schedule choices (T,Th, M,W,F or M-F). The Pre-K 4 program is 5 days/week but other ages can attend 2, 3 or 5 days from 0900-1200. We have very fond memories of the years our daughter attended WIPP. Very popular w/waiting list....suggest you inquire early.
I learned about Montessori schooling shortly before summer and applied my daughter to the 2 I found in Savannah. I love the one she was accepted to. I'm really happy I learned about this different way of learning for her!
