Regardless of which high school, McIntosh or Starr's Mills, your children will get a comprehensive education and have many activities and resources available to them.
McIntosh and Starr's Mill both cracked the top 25 highest average scores for this year's ACT and Georgia is 15th in the nation when it comes to students who have success in Advanced Placement (AP) courses, with Fayette County being the top.
McIntosh was third in the state with a score of 24.8, and Starr's Mill was fifth with a score of 24.2.
McIntosh was named as a Georgia Schools of Excellence and tied for top honors for being at the tops of the 3rd congressional district.
Fifty percent of Fayette’s public schools have been recognized by the state for promoting excellence in student achievement. McIntosh High schools received platinum awards for a fourth year in a row. Another nice thing about students attending McIntosh is that they can drive their golf cart to school. This saves parents from having to drive them, prepares them for actually driving a car and provide them with a little independence. In regards to sports, both have state champions dance, soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball, wrestling, tennis and golf. Starrs Mills has a better football team (for now), but McIntosh has a better lacrosse team. Students from both schools attend Church and other extracurricular activities together and even though there is a friendly rivalry, we root for each other teams, as long as we are not playing against each other. What I also like about McIntosh is that there is an admistrator at every event. Including the principal, Lisa Fine, who interacts very well with the students and encourages parent involvement. There are many homes available in Peachtree City, with the newer ones being on the north and west side i.e. Cedarcroft, Chadworth and Centennial - that are connected to most of the eating and shopping venues.
You will love living in Peachtree City, as it is very friendly, and there are many activities to be apart of and attend. I am sure you have checked out our city's web page and the tourism site. Happy choosing and welcome.
