Public schools in this area are horrible. George Walton is a private school that has better kids for your's to emulate, but the academics don't match the tuition.
I prefer secular education, but if you don't mind the religion, there is a new private school just next door. It's called Prince Avenue. UGA's football coach sent his son there.
The Walton County public schools have made great strides in recent years. However, public schools continue to have challenges in dealing with children not being ready to learn. A large number of students below the poverty level adds to the issue. After extensive research and heartache, we selected an established private school (around for 40 years) that requires each senior be accepted to a college or university as a part of graduation requirements. Our children have been at this school for 7 years, and we are very pleased. GWA has provided an environment that promotes success in academics and other areas like community service and extracurricular activities. This has been a great fit for us.
