I am just seeing this. I assume you may have already found a pre-school. If not, then I would suggest asking your friends and neighbors. Marietta has a ton of good pre-school programs. Many of the churches in the area have relatively low cost, half day programs that are excellent. The kindergarten curriculum is really tough in this area so ask questions such as what will the school do to get my child prepared for kindergarten? Most schools have some academics, but the main focus in preschool should be acclimating to a schedule, learning social skills, and learning to take care of themselves. My kids went to a play based school. There were no worksheets and the teacher didn't't sit down and do a lesson, but the kids had a set schedule every day. They also learned through song, calendar, art, etc. Look for extra offerings. The kids at our preschool had a little hands on science class, Spanish class, and music class. Most of all, look for a loving caring environment. Two and Three year olds need consistency so look for a school where the teachers have been around a while. I have one in first grade and one in kindergarten. Both started reading by kindergarten and they are doing very well. I attribute much of their success to the pre-school they went to. The school taught them things I didn't even realize they needed to know. Good Luck.
I'm trying to pick a preschool for a two year old in Marietta, GA or nearby too. What did you decide?
