bullying was given lip service in the private school we left but i can honestly say that nothing was actually done to put an end to it or even ACTUALLY deal with it.
because the student population is so much smaller in the private school, a bullied child can't always go in a different direction ): very true about families w. more than one child attending!!
I personally think that both public and private schools compete academically, since teachers/students are more accountable to perform at a higher level when it comes to standards/values of teaching/learning in private schools, therfore i feel that the value of learning is much more of a changelled in pvt schools than public schools. However of bullying -most schools carry a group/groups of students who tend to carryout bully like behaviours to achieve a sense of belonging which can damage those students that fall on the opposite end,so for me i teach my child to be strong when situation arises,if you feel you can't handle situation speak to a teacher immediately.
bullying, unfortunately, is allowed to grow and prosper in many of the private schools. families with more than one child in attendance are not called on the carpet when one of their kids perpetrates bullying behavior and the issue is sidestepped.
public schools in wellington are great ( equivalent to private school)
