Parent Answers to "How do public and private schools compare in Sanford?"

Currently my two daughters attend Liberty Christian School in Sanford. I am sorry to say that I am very dissatisfied. Educationally they are mediocre at best, but probably better than any public school in the area. However, if you are a traditional Christian parent please don't put your children in this school! Recently my wife, who is not that conservative, told me that she saw a teenage student wearing a mini-skirt to Liberty Christian School. I also talked to a Dad who took his freshmen daughter out of Liberty because a teacher ridiculed her for always wearing dresses. What I am saying is don't put too much stock in the word "Christian" in the school's name. Check it out! Show up uninvited to one of their high school events and you'll find out in short order exactly what I am talking about. I myself saw both a 7 year old student and her mother dancing to the beat of MTV music during a talent show. The Pastor gave her first place! Moreover, their productions do have a Christian message but it is not clear or strong. Don't expect a traditional Christmas program. Their productions are very contemporary, mediocre, and weak as far as their ability to win the lost to Christ or convey a Biblical message about the Lord Jesus Christ.
My daughter went to Holy Cross which is a private school for VPK. Loved it! She is now enrolled in Bentley in Sanford. Hate it!! First day of school a girl stole her lunch. The asst. Principal gave me no reassurance or empathy. The teacher was unwilling to speak to me about it. She closed the door on me when I tried to speak to her about it. Then the next day I went to drop my daughter off she had a sign on the door that said no parents allowed. I have left that school crying everyday since it has started. I called and left a message for the principal 3 days ago and have heard nothing. I am looking into other schools for my daughter. She is very advanced from being taught at home and VPK. She is in a class with kids who cant even spell their name. I fear she will not be challenged in these big classes with one teacher. I also want to be able to have a good relationship with her teacher which doesn't seem like its going to happen. Wilson may be rated better. However people go their because it gotten the name of the "uppity" school. "Ewww you don't go to Wilson" I have heard. Its stuffy if you know what I mean. Its more about apperance than schooling. Don't know much about Crystal Lake. Definitely don't want to go to the schools in downtown Sanford.
