Yes, that is all correct. The Broward Public Schools have an excellent website. You can request reassignment if your assigned school has a "D" rating but there are also a number of magnet and charter options as well. The schools range tremendously in quality but Broward offers many options for families.
This was new to me but all i had to do was find the school in my district which i did on line where you put in your address and they tell you the school your child has to go, if that school is a D school then you have the option to pick another school of your choice... i then went to visit the school and they let you know what you need to bring to enroll your child like proof of where you live and shot records and you can also meet the teacher if you want. my daughter school gave me a tour of the school and they let me know what they have to offer... i was happy especially because i was scared because i didn't't know where to start because this is my only child and i have never whet thought this before..
