Parent Answers to "What's a great elementary school in Cape Coral? What makes it great?"

Both of my children attend Pelican Elementary school in Cape Coral. I will tell you what makes it a great school. First and foremost, it has some of the BEST teacher's I have ever met in my life! The love and dedication they have and show for their students is like nothing I have ever seen before. The principal and assistants are not invisible, as a matter of fact since school began in August I can't think of a day I have not seen one or all of them constantly greeting both parents and students.
We moved here in July, and I must say I was quite frightened about sending my kids to school in Florida based on it's reputation and the school choice thing, it was alot to handle for a mom taking her kids from a small town with a school of 760 total in grades k-8, with an AMAZING staff and Education, to a school the size of the schools here. It was going to have a big job to fill. I did plenty of research and was happy with the choices in cape coral, and although Pelican was not my first choice because of the distance between the school and my home, I thank God everyday my kids ended up there!
I could go on for hours about the school, but I think if you are considering Pelican all you need to do is go there and check it out for yourself, I promise you will be AMAZED!

2 of our 3 kids attend Gulf Elementary School in Cape Coral. We are also requesting that as our #1 choice for our incoming Kindergartener for the fall. There is a high parent involvement at the school, including classroom volunteers. The teachers and staff are all wonderful! They are also knownall over town as having the BEST summer rec. program in the area, but only students of Gulf are eligible for the summer program - my kids count down to summer specifically FOR the summer program at their school.
Having said that, Cape Coral as a city has been working very hard to exceed the standards of the County and State standards - any of the elemetaries have terrific teachers, encourage parent involvement, and wok hard to educate our kids to the BEST of their capabilities
