The private Catholic high school offers a varied rigorous curriculum which challenges students in a stable academic environment. Students are encouraged to explore the possibilities of future careers and begin their research for prerequisites for colleges, or trade schools. The teachers are always prepared to give extra help on material the students didn’t get in class or with difficult homework. Teachers spend extra time with students on a regular basis: mentoring, moderating clubs, coaching sports etc. Students develop life-long learning skills and friendships.
The public school offers a minimal curriculum which is challenging to no one in an undisciplined atmosphere which requires a staff of security guards and a full time policeman to keep order. There is never any copy paper available- teachers must buy it themselves. Students are not regularly offered extra help. Clubs have been cut. The school is ruled by a “Queen Bee”. Many teachers have already left. The poor morale of those remaining can not help but trickle down to the students. Do you wish to send your child to a place where even the teachers don’t like to go to school?
