Greenwich High School offers almost unlimited opportunties both academic and extracurricular, but it all begins in the elementary schools. Cos Cob prepared my children for the arts with their outstanding orchestra and band programs culminating with an outstanding 5th grade musical production. Although all along the way there were productions for instrumental and choral music. Your heart just swells when you hear 3rd graders playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star for the first time in front of an audience. All the instrumental lessons take place before, during, and after school time and yet do not interfere with their academics. These kids at Cos Cob School are exposed to so much and it continues into Central Middle School. By the time they reach the "Jewel in the Crown of Greenwich Schools" which is the high school they are ready to take on in depth whatever talent they want to pursue. There is also band and orchestra and art camp available for a nominal fee in the summer. If your child is not ready to "jump" in the math program at the elementary school level (and lots of bright kids aren't), they can jump during the summer between elementary and middle or between middle and high school. Because of these opportunities in Cos Cob school, these kids really bond and it makes the transition to middle and high school very easy for them.
