I talked to my friends and neighbors who have an educational philosophy similar to mine. I observed in the classrooms and talked to parents at the schools I was considering. I chose based on availability in the end, though (the one I wanted was full). There are some surprising choices in Golden, though, like Table Mtn preschool, where (if you don't mind a slight Christian emphasis) the teachers are fabulous even though the curriculum is very traditional.
