I chose my preschool for my son with interviewing both the owners/managers and the teachers that will be having the most interaction with my son. I also requested the school give me some references of parents and asked them about the school i.e. the positives, the negatives.. then I went to the school at odd times of the day to tour (i did this 3 times). If the school is reluctant to tour you (unless it is disrupting nap time) I would hesitate. Also ask about the visitation policy to be sure they are okay with you checking in on the child and if there are charges behind that... you might be surprised to find that some schools charge a "disruption fee" sometimes as much as $25.00.
I hope this helps.
