I have had exp. with 1 private and 2 public schools both at lower ele. grades.
Private exp. was really really bad. It was a total waste of my money and not to mention the time I had to spend teaching my kid.
Also, contrary to your exp. I found private school class size is much larger to the public school class size.
So I did not find a smaller environment,in fact it was much larger.
Bottom line - it totally depends on the class teacher whether private or public. I am having a tough time communicating with my 2nd public school teacher
In my opinion - private schooling may work better from middle school .

That's a really tough question and for me it seems like a question that constantly comes to my mind. My children go to private school ( high school and elementary). But I tried public school for a year for both of them. It was very good...and has so much opportunity to grow and take challenging classes. But is totally up to the kid and parent to get used to big school and the enviornment. In private school, it should be otherwise as you would think, but contrary to my belief, I have been spending more time with my kids in helping them do their best. And what you pay is actually for the safe/small enviornment and not education. But this is again my analysis...based on a local school district.
