I am not a huge fan of this question. We were going to move to a better school district and then thought about it a bit more. My wife (a teacher) would rather a parent choose the school based on more relevant criteria than a blanket reputation.

There are bad teachers in these school districts and great teachers in bad school districts.

I have friends in Marin and Los Gatos who have had bad luck with terrible teachers.

The best thing is to look at the leadership of the principal, the people behind the PTA, and meet/interview the teachers. Even observe a classroom (class sit) if you have time.

Squeaky wheel gets the worm.

Cities include: Alameda, Dublin, Pleasanton, Piedmont, Palo Alto, Danville and Fremont (in the Mission Hills area).
