The best way to find out the differences is to read the reviews and go tour the schools. San Diego School District has a number of great charter/magnet schools that you can choice into. My son's public school is the only K-12 school in our district and it's small. The teachers as a whole are wonderful and caring. The principal while may not know me by name does know me by face.
So, like I said, you have to look at each school individually and figure what you want most for your child.

I find there is no comparison. The public schools classrooms are over crowed and lacking in personal attention. Most of the teachers seem worn out and like their needs are not being met. Although financially it is a bit tricky for us it is worth it in the end to send our daughter to private school. San Diego has so many options. The hardest part s getting a spot at the schools.

There are a lot of private schools in sandiego and some good school districts as well. Private schools offer lots of extras, field trips, specialized programs, a supportive community and smaller class sizes, and interiscipinary approach to learning. There was no question in my mind of where I was sending mine. child, from age 4 onward.
