If your child is gifted, I highly recommend Balboa Boulevard Magnet School in Northridge. Some teachers there are cut loose, but not many, maybe one or two.. One great discipline teacher teaches the fifth grade, and she teachers your child responsibility. The staff is wonderful. Balboa Magnet starts in first grade and ends in fifth.
My recommendation for an elementary school would be Beckford Elementary on Tulsa. It's in Porter Ranch, not officially Northridge, but it's a great school, great teachers, but more importantly it has a great Principal, Barbara Friedrich. Without great administration, you won't really have a great school.
