First thing is that you can find your child's school of residence through the Napa Valley Unified school district website. If you wish for your child to attend a different public school, your options depend on the time of year and the grade level. If it is before the end of April, you may use open enrollment to enroll your child in any elementary school that has availability in Napa. The open enrollment period for middle and high schools is in January. Schools such as Pueblo Vista Alternative can be enrolled in at any time because open enrollment is the only enrollment option available for those schools. I was able to enroll my son in one right at the beginning of the school year. Open enrollment is only possible after your child has been enrolled in his or her school of residence.

For Kindergarten registration, that takes place in February of each year for the upcoming school year, and open enrollment works in the same way. Register your child in February at his or her school if residence, and then use open enrollment in April if you choose.
