Hi LDSolutions -- wondering if from your experience you can recommend any excellent elementary schools in Glendale, Burbank, Eagle Rock or Pasadena (we most likely will buy a house in one of these areas...can't afford a million dollar house unfortunately) thanks

I'm a French mother with 4 children, 15, 13, 10, 8 years
we'll arrived at los angeles in few months and I want to know
witch is the best school I can find for them (they will have some difficultes with the language in a first time!! (my husband company will be in Huntington) I don't know the best place to leave
but I prefer to chose the school first

I think it truly depends on the services. The speech therapist at my daughter's school is highly sought after and people actually do attend the school because of her. I don't have any personal experience with Special Ed services, though.

My son's magnet guidance counselor went beyond the call of any person to write recommendations to get him into some of the areas best colleges (and outside the area too) and recommend him for numerous scholarships. I continue to recommend my son's high school to parents simply because of her ability to focus on the kids.

In addition, there are entire networks of parents willing to help other parents navigate the magnet/open enrollment/SAS maze. A large district like LAUSD is cumbersome, but offers choices rarely available in smaller districts.

This is very true. There are wonderful schools everywhere. But keep in mind, if you need special services or help with the district, then I would not go with LAUSD as a whole.

Hi LDSolutions.

With a little detective work, there's no reason to stay away from LAUSD schools. From the San Fernando Valley to the Westside there are phenomenal schools with great administrators, strong PTOs and awesome teachers. It's not always as easy it might be in some districts, but there are some real treasures in LAUSD.
