Amen, peachweenie.

We're very interested in the new span schools being built by LAUSD. The move of sixth graders to the middle schools 10 years ago definitely did not have the desired results.

Some schools have even successfully moved sixth graders back on elementary school campuses, which is something I'd love to see done at my daughter's school as well.

My child is not yet in middle school, but he goes to a k-8 charter school. I see the middle school age kids from my school and I think that I'd like to see my son turn out like them. They seem happy, confident and independent. I'm really glad that my son's school includes middle school. In my opinion, the vulnerable pre-teen years are not a good time to make a transition to a new school. I'm thankful that he will be spending those years with kids & teachers he knows and at a school he loves.
