I have one daughter who started at Livermore High School this year as a freshman. I have been impressed with the level of education she has received. I like that she likes her teachers and the classes she is taking. The new trimester system that exists at both of the Livermore High Schools, Livermore and Granada, is a bit strange to me but it seems to allow them to take advantage of more electives. The principal, Darrel Avilla, feels passionately about improving the high school for ALL students and there are a lot of added programs that are available, such as free tutoring, Boyz to Men, Stars for those disadvantaged students. There are also Honors classes and AP classes and an active GATE program for the high-performing students. I hope that my daughter continues to have a successful experience that will prepare her for college.
